Born in Vancouver, the author holds degrees from the University of B.C. (B.A.), Dalhousie University (M.A.), Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary (M.A.), and the University of Edinburgh (Ph.D.). She has taught English literature and academic writing in four Canadian and three Japanese universities.

Zahra (Nora) Mohammadioun is an artist and writer living in Vancouver, with roots in the kind soil of Iran. Cardamom Tea is her first book—an intimate narrative that, in her own words, was written from the heart to soothe hearts. With a perspective full of love, humor, and deep faith in life, Nora has turned her own story into a book that is not only readable but also deeply felt—conveying the warmth of tears, smiles, and those small yet radiant moments that bring healing.

Katayoun Shirzad, originally from Shirgah in Mazandaran, Iran, has lived abroad for nearly forty years and currently resides in Vancouver, Canada, with her husband and three children. With academic backgrounds in science and psychology, she spent twenty years working in education with the Canadian government and collaborated for a decade with British Columbia’s provincial TV on expert-led programs. She has published four books and over 300 articles on psychology and has also held several sculpture exhibitions.
