Mirza Mohammad Farrokh Yazdi, known as Taj al-Shu'ara, was born in 1268 AH (1851 CE) in Yazd. Farrokh Yazdi began writing poetry from a young age and throughout his life, he paid considerable attention to the works of Saadi Shirazi and Mas'ud Sa'd Salman. He is considered one of the prominent poets of the Constitutional Era, distinguishing himself by not only addressing contemporary issues and composing critical poems but also demonstrating a deep appreciation for the art of poetry and the principles of Persian literature.

His works are noteworthy both thematically and literarily, displaying meticulous attention to detail. Farrokh Yazdi was not only a poet but also a journalist during the Constitutional Movement. His advocacy extended beyond the realm of poetry to practical activism and involvement in politics, including serving as a member of the parliament. He paid the price for his convictions with his life, dying in prison under circumstances that remain disputed.

Farrokh Yazdi's fondness and interest in the Bolshevik Revolution in neighboring northern Iran are evident in his works, a clear theme that recurs throughout his divan. Additionally, his divan contains numerous references to ancient Iranian stories, such as the tales of Kaveh and Zahhak, and the story of Farhad and Shirin.

This collection has been prepared with the aim of presenting readable and edited selections from the divan of Farrokh Yazdi. The foundation of this work is based on the efforts of Hossein Makki, one of the most reputable editors of Farrokh Yazdi's divan. While maintaining the integrity of Makki's edition, we have endeavored to address some of the printing issues through careful editing of Farrokh Yazdi's poems. It is hoped that this work will be well-received by poetry enthusiasts worldwide.
