“Farsi for Everyone” is a series of books for learning Persian as a second language, designed to be accessible to all those who are interested, at different ages and levels of basic proficiency. This is the first of two books that have been published for learning how to read and write in Persian at a grade 1 level. Each lesson in the book focuses on one letter or character of the alphabet, teaches common words using that character/letter, and contains exercises for learning sentence-building and numbers. The book also incorporates elements and information about Persian culture, history, and literature in its lessons. We are currently working on the subsequent installments of the book series for higher grade levels. All lessons and exercises in this book have English translations next to the writing in Persian to facilitate self-guided learning. The vocabulary and pronunciation sections also provide learners with additional tools to master new terms. This collection is unique in combining up-to-date content and validated didactic strategies without introducing prejudice and imposing political and religious values.
